ProPublica | J Marino/UPI/Alamy Live News
ProPublica | J Marino/UPI/Alamy Live News

As a Black, Christian former Democrat with little previous engagement with Jewish causes, Terrell, now 70, seemed an improbable pick to lead the effort to “root out anti-Semitic harassment in schools and on college campuses,” as the task force announcement put it. The Hechinger Report | PonyWang/Getty
The Hechinger Report | PonyWang/Getty

An exodus appears to be under way of Ph.D.s and faculty generally, who are leaving academia in the face of political, financial and enrollment crises…. On top of everything else affecting higher education, this is likely to reduce the quality of education for undergraduates, experts say.

11 Women, 9 Dogs, Not Much Drama (and No Guys)

NYT | S Tauber
NYT | S Tauber

As Huff explained it in the kitchen, this is what “no drama” means: no whisper campaigns, no sulking or stewing. A resident with an interpersonal problem has two choices: tolerate it or address it. “If I go to somebody and say, ‘We need to work something out so I’m not upset about it,’ then we will work something out. Everybody here would at least attempt to make me happy, like I would do for them,” she said. Above: Huff watering the garden outside her home, helped come up with the motto for the Bird’s Nest: no drama.
