The Irish Times | S Boal/Collins Photos

Social workers are often afraid to share information about children due to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) concerns, the chief operations officer of the Irish Association of Social Workers (IASW) has said. Caroline Strong said there needs to be an overhaul of how different organisations share information in cases where there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Ms Strong noted that many social workers, or other stakeholders who engage with children, are “genuinely afraid” to share information.

My swindler sweetheart

Psyche Weekly | N Chikayasu
Psyche Weekly | N Chikayasu

He said he was waiting for a postdated cheque to clear and would pay me back that Friday. Could I lend him the amount till then? He even flashed me the cheque. I had been dating G for three years; what was not to trust? Sure, he’d had a bit of a chequered past, with a ‘white collar’ mistake thrown in and a couple of long stints between jobs, but when I met him, I was nursing a broken heart and didn’t much care. He appeared to be the perfect Band-Aid.

UC Berkeley is facing backlash after disclosing the names of 160 students, faculty and staff to Trump administration officials as part of a federal investigation into allegations of antisemitism on campus. The university sent the documents over several months and notified those named earlier this month. Among them is Ussama Makdisi, a history professor and leading scholar of modern Arab history….
