This article compiles innovative, multidisciplinary research featuring novel approaches to psychological measurement, with a particular focus on articles that use cross-method or multimodal measurement to advance psychological science. Driven by continual advancements in open science, statistical methodology, “big data” availability and analytics, and an ever-advancing field, this expansion requires that researchers and clinicians continuously update their knowledge of psychological measurement methods. A stronger focus on the measurement of psychological variables or constructs facilitates the critical step needed to improve psychological estimands and theory. This special issue brings together articles from across psychological disciplines that are demonstrative and/or explanatory and advance the field in terms of psychological measurement. We present eight articles that each represent unique innovations on psychological measurement, highlight several key measurement issues ranging from multi- and mixed-methods approaches, examples of using contemporary measurement techniques, and efforts to improve replicability, generalizability, and reporting standards.
