Between the years 1946 and 1964, the United States experienced an unprecedented rise in birth rates, resulting in a generation of individuals known as the baby boomers. This age group represents a disproportionately large segment of the American population and, as such, the public health issues that face this group are of urgent concern to Americans of all ages.
