This article investigates the concordance of hospital data with child protection service data, to examine how well child abuse is identified and coded by hospital staff. Using data from 20 hospitals in Queensland, the article investigates whether child patient records coded as child maltreatment or unintentional injury are known to child protection services, either before or after discharge.
