The attribution of responsibility for the emergence and controllability of drug dependence is associated with negative outcomes, including stigmatization, making it relevant to measure it. We collected evidence of the validity of the Attribution Questionnaire for Drug (AQ-D) dependence adapted to Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. A total of 449 health professionals from Brazil, Uruguay, and Colombia responded to the AQ-D, which was subjected to the process of translation and back-translation. For the structure analysis, parallel and exploratory factorial analyses were used to define the factors to be retained. Of the initial items, 19 had factor loadings equal to or greater than 0.30. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated a bifactorial structure containing 13 items. The version showed good performance, especially due to the variability in the sample in terms of professional category and level of care, reinforcing the quality of the study.
