In this study, we evaluated the offer of sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening tests at appointments for fitting and removal of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) in relation to the UK Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) auditable outcomes. The FSRH indicates a standard of 97% for ‘The proportion of sexually active women requesting LARC who are offered sexually transmitted infection screening’.
The initial audit assessed attendances for LARC during the 6-month period from 1 January to 30 June 2021 using the Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Activity Dataset. Both clinical case notes and any Genitourinary Medicine Clinical Activity Dataset coding applied were reviewed.
