I have had the good fortune and honor to serve The Gerontologist (TG) as Editor-in-Chief for the past 4 years, and before that, as Associate Editor and a member of the Editorial Board. My purpose in this essay is to review the 4 years of my editorship in the ever-changing context of TG’s life span. I begin, though, with a personal commentary on the benefits of editing TG, which reflect more broadly on the benefits of this journal to its readers.
