Infants and their families: Best interests case practice model: specialist practice resource

This resource, for child protection and family services in Victoria, provides guidance for working with young people and their families. Part 1 is an introduction to issues in infant development, including Victorian legislation, attachment, Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse families, and the impact of trauma and neglect. Part 2 is a practice tool on strategies for working with infants and their families. It discusses information gathering, child abuse assessment, analysis and planning, assessing parenting practices, assessment with Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse families, constraints on parenting capacity, treatment action, reunification and child contact, and reviewing outcomes.
