FareShare, a national charity, has been addressing this issue by redistributing surplus food
from the UK food industry to charities that support vulnerable people in the UK.2
FareShare
has long helped those living on the margins of society to access food and to address the
underlying causes of poverty.
FareShare runs 17 depots across the UK, delivering surplus food to a network of more than
1,000 charities and community projects, catering to approximately 51,000 people a day.3
Charities and organisations who receive FareShare food are called Community Food
Members and will be referenced in this report as ‘member charities’.
