Summary: Evaluation of the pilot Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) programme, a problem-solving, therapeutic approach to care proceedings in cases where parental substance misuse is an issue. Summarises main findings based on a sample of 90 families who received the FDAC programme and a comparison sample of 101 families. Key findings include: cessation rates were higher for both mothers and fathers who received the programme; there was a higher rate of reunification in families receiving the programme; and the rate of child abuse and neglect for children returned home was lower in the FDAC sample.
