Defining the public health model for the child welfare services context (NCPC resource sheet)

The public health model is one of the most useful and widely applied frameworks for strategic planning regarding service provision. This resource sheet applies the public health model to the Australian child welfare and child protection system to explore how the system responds to child abuse and neglect. The resource sheet describes the public health model, primary (or universal) interventions, secondary (or targeted) interventions, tertiary interventions, types of child maltreatment prevention programs, and the limitations of the public health model.
