Guidance: Head of user research: skills they need

Updated: Following a change in naming conventions, we have changed ‘capabilities’ to ‘skills’ and ‘levels of mastery’ to ‘skill levels’.

This is the standardised cross-government guidance for the head of user research role.

There are 5 other role levels in user research:

  • lead user researcher
  • senior user researcher
  • user researcher
  • junior user researcher
  • associate user researcher
