Inaugural editorial.

Psychological Methods, Vol 31(1), Feb 2026, 1-2; doi:10.1037/met0000816

In this inaugural editorial for the journal Psychological Methods, the author states that he and his team of associate editors aim to advance both quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as the intersection of the two via mixed methods and modern technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence. Extending and refining available methodologies serve to expand the types and depth of research questions that psychologists can address; in turn, they also strengthen the skills and impact of psychological researchers and graduate students who apply those methods. Moving forward, the journal will continue to engage in open science practices and advance them further. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2026 APA, all rights reserved)
