“You got this!” The maternal mantra of a trailblazing female behavior analyst

Behavior Analysis: Research and Practice, Vol 25(3), Aug 2025, 124-130; doi:10.1037/bar0000307

In this article, I share my journey as a female behavior analyst, intertwining my personal and professional experiences through my writing. I reflect on my path into applied behavior analysis, discussing how my early experiences with autistic children shaped my career trajectory. I highlight the challenges and celebrations involved in merging clinical practice with research and emphasize the importance of integrating research within practice environments. I also address the nuances of female leadership in behavior analysis, discussing subtle gender-related challenges and the necessity for greater gender equality within the profession. I conclude with “words of wisdom” that encourage behavior analysts to navigate their careers with passion, resilience, and a commitment to inclusive environments.
