Lifting the voices of leaders: Contemporary women in behavior analysis.

Behavior Analysis: Research and Practice, Vol 25(3), Aug 2025, 119-123; doi:10.1037/bar0000306

The discipline of behavior analysis is rapidly growing, bringing with it an increasingly diverse community of practitioners and scientists (Behavior Analyst Certification Board, 2024). It is important that emerging professionals see themselves represented in current resources and that these resources reflect the varied identities and experiences of practicing professionals. Nosik and Grow (2015) created a platform through their special section in The Behavior Analyst to capture the perspectives of prominent women behavior analysts and their advice. The purpose of this special series is to provide a follow-up platform for contemporary women behavior analysts to share their current experiences and recommendations for building a successful career. Ten contemporary women in leadership, editorial, and academic positions were systematically selected to be highlighted across 1 year of quarterly issues with the hope that aspiring behavior analysts see themselves represented in the featured women and find comfort in relating to the commonalities experienced. The advice contained in these interviews is meant to serve as an example of how to grow a meaningful career that provides a positive contribution to the growth of behavior analysis. The current series does not capture all perspectives or represent all those who practice within the field. Instead, the hope is that the series will continue beyond these 10 women to highlight additional perspectives, especially perspectives of those with more marginalized identities.
