To the Editor We read with great interest the recent article by Martini and colleagues. In this retrospective nationwide population-based cohort, the authors report that autistic female individuals were more likely to receive a diagnosis of as well as be hospitalized for psychiatric problems compared with autistic male individuals. The authors conclude that autistic female individuals require increased clinical surveillance and support, providing appurtenant guidance for clinical practice. However, unrecognized confounding factors could prevent generalizability.
