JAMA and the US Preventive Services Task Force

The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) is “an independent, volunteer panel of national experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine” that “works to improve the health of people nationwide by making evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services such as screenings, counseling services, and preventive medications.” The recommendations are formulated as recommendation statements that are based on systematic reviews of the available evidence and serve as important guidelines for clinical practice and decision-making involving preventive care services.
