Grade Inflation, Gatekeeping, and Social Work Education: Ethics and Perils

The definition of grade inflation, its causes, and
consequences are discussed. Although literature
concerning grade inflation in social work
education is sparse, there is enough evidence to
conclude that grade inflation exists in social work
education. The ethical imperative to fairly evaluate
students and the role of gatekeeping are discussed.
