Melvin Pollner and the Passing of an American Sociologist

Abstract

Melvin Pollner was a teacher, scholar, and astute academician. He was also a seeker regarding the nature of humanity. As a
seeker, he saw past the relative certainty demanded of academic publishing, a point reflected in his final deliberations published
for the first time in this volume, where he interrogates Harold Garfinkel, ethnomethodology, and Formal Analysis.
