The state of health care and adult social care in England.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have recently published a report (CQC 2011),(the report) which presents key themes on the state of health care and adult social care in England in 2009/10. The themes are based on evidence, research findings and publications from CQC regulation,assessment and review activities. The CQC is the independent regulator of health care and adult social care services in England and also protects the interests of people whose rights are restricted under the Mental Health Act. The report is divided into four sections, Safe care, Choice and control, Person-centered services and Standards of care and support. This article will focus on the Safe care section.
