Social Work England is proposing to strengthen practice placement requirements for course providers, in response to concerns that current arrangements are leaving students underequipped for statutory work. It is consulting on amending its education and training standards to require providers to ensure students receive sufficient exposure to statutory tasks to prepare them for “the realities of high-volume, high-risk work”. The proposal is among a series of changes to the standards, and accompanying guidance on them, and in relation to the rules governing its education and training work, issued for consultation recently.
