A 12-week consultation has been launched by the UK Government asking the public how National Lottery funding for good causes should be spent. Since the first draw in 1994, players have raised more than £53 billion for charities, community projects, heritage, arts and sport. Around a quarter of every pound spent on a lottery ticket goes towards good causes, but the funding model has remained largely unchanged since a review carried out in 2002-03.
