Nun known only as Sister Z accused of ‘inhuman treatment’ of girls and women at Mother and Baby Homes

Sister Z, who worked in the Good Shepherd-run Marianville institution on the Ormeau Road, was singled out in the report into mother and baby homes, Magdalene Laundries and work houses. The Truth Recovery Independent Panel report centred on the more than 15,000 young women and teenagers sent to institutions, and their babies, was published on Tuesday. Its lead authors describe the report as detailing “human rights abuses, degrading treatment and forced separation of families”.
