This release of data shows that at the end of July 2013:
914,597 people were in contact with secondary mental health services, and of these 22,705 were inpatients
in a psychiatric hospital (2.5 per cent).
16,204 people were subject to the Mental Health Act 1983, and of these 11,354 were detained in hospital
(70.1 per cent) and 4,655 were subject to a CTO (28.7 per cent).
60.8 per cent of people aged 18-69, who were being treated under the Care Programme Approach, were recorded
as being in settled accommodation, while 7.0 per cent were recorded as being employed.
