The public health approach to violence prevention
(Figure 1) uses four steps to systematically define the
problem, identify risk and protective factors, develop
and test prevention strategies, and finally, ensure
widespread adoption. This model assumes that the tested
interventions will be used in the field, but it provides very
little information on how this should be accomplished.
