The NSW Government has introduced new legislation to strengthen penalties for gay hate crimes. Legislation presented to parliament on Tuesday follows media reporting of gay and bisexual teenagers lured through dating apps and violently assaulted on camera in Sydney – a growing trend known as “post and boast”. The suite of reforms will expand offences to include serious assaults and robberies and target perpetrators who lure victims on false pretences.
