Swindon council’s ‘relentless’ campaign to recruit social workers

A third of all its staff employed in social work roles are with an agency – placed temporarily with Swindon. The council has long stated its wish to reduce that number – having more permanently employed social workers tends to mean more stability and better outcomes for the children and families they work with, and agency workers cost the council more.
