Social work expert warned of ‘record numbers of children being taken into care’

A social work expert who has repeatedly warned about record numbers of Northern Ireland children in care has welcomed plans to spend £13m a year improving services and to create a new regional authority. Professor Ray Jones authored a major independent report in 2023 about children’s social services, finding over 4,000 children were in care.
