No commitment to include social workers in NHS workforce plan in DHSC response to MPs’ report

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has given a non-committal response to MPs’ call for it to boost the role of mental health social workers. The House of Commons’ health and social care committee called on the DHSC to recognise social workers’ “important role” in mental health by including them in its forthcoming 10-year workforce plan for the NHS, in a report on community mental health services published last December.
