Diana Moreno, a labor organizer and democratic socialist backed by Mayor Mamdani, will take his former state Assembly seat, following Tuesday’s special election. Moreno won the three-way race handily with about 73.8 percent of the vote. “From universal childcare to expanding labor rights, I look forward to fighting for the people of Astoria alongside you,” Congressional Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said on X.
