After over 50 years of rapid growth, the immigrant population in the United States began to decline in June 2025. Divisive policies that have affected the U.S. immigrant and refugee population have also been a major source of stress for a majority of Americans. The articles in this special issue examine how current events have shaped stigma and stress within immigrant communities. Importantly, they also identify sources of strength and resilience. Collectively, these articles provide evidence for culturally rooted practices and policies that support the over 50 million immigrants living in the United States as well as their children, families, and global counterparts.
