Graduates of psychology doctoral programs are expected to possess knowledge and competencies in the delivery of evidence-based practice (EBP). Graduate student practicum training sites are ideally positioned to provide training in EBP, which has been shown to promote later EBP practice. In this article, we describe how an advanced practicum clinical training site within a large academic medical center prepares its graduate student clinical fellows to become informed, competent, and versatile practitioners of EBP. We examine how key training components, including orientation, didactic instruction, supervision, research, and evaluation, support the development of the foundational and functional competencies necessary for future EBP practice, and we present fellows’ mid-year and year-end evaluations of the advanced practicum. The aim of this article is to provide a framework for clinical programs aiming to provide robust training in the development of EBP competency.
