Dimensional constructs of personality disorders: Implications for psychotherapy integration.

Journal of Psychotherapy Integration, Vol 36(1), Mar 2026, 1-9; doi:10.1037/int0000392

Although a great deal of research has been conducted on the dimensional constructs, particularly the AMPD, over the past decade, its application to psychotherapy integration and the process and outcome of psychotherapy remains limited. The aim of this special issue is to stimulate that translation. We want to assess how the new dimensional models will transform psychotherapy from within, by using scientific principles, and their potential implications for research. The present special issue features eight original research articles, followed by several discussions by experts. We start by briefly introducing these eight contributions, then we focus on implications for research and practice in the field of psychotherapy integration, and then we address missing areas and future directions.
