Country: World
Source: United Nations Population Fund

Please refer to the attached files.

This is a practical, user-friendly tools that aid in the application of gender-transformative approaches for everyday work at the frontlines within the social, health, education, or legal sectors, among others.

Gender-transformative approaches intentionally challenge harmful gender norms, roles, and relations towards a more equal redistribution of power and resources. This includes engaging diverse stakeholders, such as men, boys, and traditional leaders, in redefining gender roles and increasing the agency of women and girls.

What’s Inside?

This document fills a key resource gap in the application of gender transformative approaches for frontliners who interact daily with individuals or community groups.

It is framed around the Gender Integration Continuum, which ranges from regressive (gender-exploitative and gender-blind) to increasingly progressive (gender-sensitive, gender-responsive, and gender-transformative) approaches.

The checklist tools guide users on how to:

  • Conduct Quick Assessments: Questions to cultivate a clearer understanding of individual, family, and community dynamics regarding FGM.
  • Develop Tailored Planning: Guiding steps for developing context-specific interventions.
  • Track Success Criteria: Metrics for monitoring and assessing the approach and results to strengthen implementation.
