Highlights

  • Humanitarian needs continue to evolve as migration patterns shift towards increasing returns and prolonged stays in transit and destination countries, while armed violence continues to expose children to recruitment, displacement, exploitation and other protection risks. In 2026, UNICEF estimates that 3.9 million children require humanitarian assistance across Latin America and the Caribbean due to mixed migration and armed violence.
  • UNICEF humanitarian interventions reached over 58,000 children, adolescents, and caregivers with protection services. Around 24,000 children gained access to education, and 39,000 people received safe water. Following funding received in Q2, implementation is advancing, with further results expected in the next reporting period.
  • UNICEF’s 2026 Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) appeal for Children on the Move and Armed Violence is 48 per cent funded, with US$50.9 million available against a US$106.2 million funding requirement. Significant funding gaps continue to constrain the scale of humanitarian assistance across the region.
