This fact sheet illustrates theEuropean Social Fund Plus(ESF+) and its history. It explains how the European Social Fund, initiallyset up to improve employment opportunities, has been revised,reflecting developments in national economic and employment situationsand the evolution of the EU’s political priorities, such as the green and digital transitions. Today, the ESF+ is the main EU instrument for supporting employment and social inclusion in the EU.
