Abstract
Virtual reality (VR) is an innovative technology that creates opportunities for immersive learning and training experiences. This article describes how the merits of VR-based training can be explained using principles of cognitive theory, and it argues that this training can be adapted and delivered across various industries, allowing for both practical and interpersonal learning processes. VR technology, as an enhanced form of training, can be a powerful tool to address the limitations of traditional training methods by providing immersive and interactive simulations that closely replicate real-world scenarios, allowing individuals to better engage with learning material. VR-based training has great potential for broader work and educational contexts because of the way that it provides experiential learning opportunities that can be generalised to various professions. It can be tailored to the specific needs of diverse industries by offering practical skill development and fostering interpersonal capabilities. Advancements in VR technology highlight the need for corporations to partner with tech companies and experts in cognitive theory to design bespoke training scenarios that serve their specific requirements. These collaborations can ensure that VR training programs are tailored to the unique challenges and contexts of different industries.
