It is a considerable honor to serve as the new editor-in-chief of the Health & Social Work journal. First and foremost, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to former editor-in-chief Dr. Christine Rine for her years of dedicated service and leadership along with the NASW Press team for their ongoing contributions in elevating the journal. In this first editorial, I take the opportunity to introduce myself, reflect on the social work profession’s history, address some of the current challenges affecting health and social work, and discuss ways to shape the future of social work in the broader healthcare field.
