Impact of coronavirus disease 2019 on global access to assisted reproductive technologies services and related effects (2020–2021)

Coronavirus disease 2019 had a major effect on access to reproductive health care services globally, which was most profound between April 2020 and May 2020. During that time, 82% of countries reported cessation or significant curtailment of reproductive clinical services pertaining to infertility care. Most countries had essentially returned to prepandemic levels of activity by January 2021. However, the magnitude of the longer-term sequelae including changes in family planning preferences and access to ongoing reproductive care, including contraception, is only now undergoing assessment.
