Just transitions

The idea of Just Transition (JT) emerged from the trade union movement in the 1980s as a means of making the transition from the current, high fossil fuel economy to a sustainable society while protecting and generating jobs with decent wages and conditions. The phrase has achieved wider popularity in recent years, not least, since it was included in the preamble to the Paris Agreement signed at COP21 in 2015:
