Planting gardens and growing beyond the guidelines: Introduction to the special issue.

Working on the Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Sexual Minority Persons inspired the authors to consider a special issue in the journal of Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity. Although LGBTQ psychology scholarship has blossomed and expanded exponentially since the first Guidelines were adopted by APA in 2000, the authors recognized that there were areas and facets that still needed further attention by scholars and researchers. This special issue surveys the current state of our psychological research in several key areas, with the hopes of cultivating and improving the psychological landscape for a more promising and hopeful future.
