Our society is often called the post-modern or information society to differentiate it from earlier structures. This distinction is justified by completely new circumstances which are perceptible on a daily basis. For example, the forms of establishing and maintaining communication have undergone fundamental changes. ICT-aided solutions are playing an ever greater role, replacing interpersonal communication. However, what must never be forgotten is that – although the medium is different – there is always a person behind the digital tools and this is why the tasks of youth work extend into virtual space.  Highlights: ► We introduce the characteristic features of the digital area, and focuses on the general rules that define it. ► We also introduces practical examples, of which success should be followed as models. ► We will formulate general fundamental rules that are worth maintaining if we wish to pursue youth work in the virtual space.
