Gendered Organizations: Challenges for Domestic Violence Victim Advocates and Feminist Advocacy

Acker’s theory of gendered organizations serves as an important theoretical lens for researching the gendered processes of domestic violence organizations. Specifically, I document challenges presented to domestic violence victim advocates as a result of gendered processes in community based responses to domestic violence and offer specific policy suggestions for future collaborations between stakeholders in combating domestic violence.
