Social Workers’ Practice Guide to Domestic Violence

Domestic violence may profoundly impact the ability of a family to protect and nurture their children. It may also pose a threat to social workers and other professionals working with the family. Because of these concerns, it is critical that Children’s Administration social workers have access to current information and resources about domestic violence, and that our social workers partner with private agencies to better serve families experiencing domestic violence.
This practice guide is one of the key results of a multi-agency, multi-year collaboration that has leveraged the knowledge and expertise of state and national experts in the fields of domestic violence and child
welfare. The guide provides relevant research, practice recommendations and information regarding community supports to help social workers implement domestic violence-specific policies
