This report and accompanying data tables describe the group of children who first entered Head Start in fall 2006 either as a 3- or 4- year old, completed one or two years in the program, and attended kindergarten the year after completing Head Start. Head Start children make progress in important school readiness skills over the course of their time in Head Start and in the kindergarten year, and this progress is positively related to material and social resources in the home, the quality of their Head Start classroom, and several measures of peer abilities, among other factors.
